Let’s Build ~ Let’s create a better, more magical world of stories. Let’s celebrate!

Let’s Build! Big Blue Blocks ~ Block Party: Join us for a Summer Reading Kickoff Event Wed. June 28th from 10am -1pm. Families can use Big Blue Blocks to build a playground. Visit our Build Your Town Stations. Using Legos and paper diagrams, make a Gorham Landmark for display Also, everyone is welcome to visit a Wegmans Sponsored Make-Your-Own Sandwich Bar for a healthy lunch while listening to stories and a free concert by Local artists Maria Gillard & Elaine Verstraete.

More Big Blue Blocks Fun & an outdoor screening of Pixar Shorts: June 29: 2pm – 9:30pm (Film 8:30pm Weather Permitting)

Let’s Create Your Own Cartoon Characters: Cartoonist Paul Merklein will show us how creating and drawing can be fun, fast and easy. Learn how to create your own cartoon characters and build a story. Don’t miss out on fun, free prizes, games, and stories.  Wed. July, 5th 10am – 12pm.

Let’s Create: Join us for a free Soap Making Workshop with Martha Silver. Learn how to create your own homemade soap with tree nut oils. Take home samples or shop Martha’s collection for gifts.  Tuesday, July, 11th 6:30 – 7:30pm. Must be 8 years or older to attend as we are working with a caustic chemical, Sodium Hydroxide.

A Better, More Magical World Awaits: Join us as Magician Steve Ingraham entertains kids and families with his magic show. There will also be stories, and a carnival. Wed. July, 12th 10am – 12pm.

Adult Book Club: Join us as we read “Rise: How a House Built a Family.” This inspirational story is sure to inspire great group discussion on Wednesday, July 12 from 4-5pm.  Copies of the book are available for check out at the library.

Library Book Sale! Come browse a wonderful selection of books.  The book sale begins on Saturday, July 14th from 8am-4pm.

A Better, More Magical World Awaits: Learn about the Magical Days and Knights of King Arthur with StoriesGalorious Duo Rachel and Rebecca. Adults and teens will enjoy rousing tales of adventure and chivalry from medieval times that describe the ways in which Arthurian knights upheld their code of honor, valor, and duty to build a better world. Stories bring to life a time long past and challenge how we live today. Tuesday, July 18th 7:00 – 8:00pm.

A World of Stories: Join Rachel & Rebecca of StoriesGalorious as they share stories from each continent to emphasize the shared humanity and varied cultures of the world. After the stories, play geography games with a large inflatable globe, and win prizes. Wed. July, 19th 10am – 12pm.

Then on Thursday, July 20th at 6:30 come to our PJ Storytime Concert with Cap & Cady who will entertain and delight us with their Sleepy, Silly Songs and Stories Program.

Let’s Build: A Little Free Library. Rock and Laurel Nelson of Lagom Landing will led a construction workshop program for participants to collaboratively build a Little Free Library in honor of Pat Naracong for the free exchange of books in our community. Come ready to build  at 12:30 on Friday, July, 21st.

Let’s Create: Join us for a free coloring and drawing workshop led by longtime artist and teacher Roberta Nelson. Create a custom piece of art and learn some fun new techniques. Tuesday, July 25th 6:00 – 8:00pm. Please call ahead to register so we can have enough supplies.

Let’s Celebrate our World! Join us for a celebration of the fun things our world has to offer. Exotic Animals from Mini Ark Farms will entertain and delight participants. After the animal show is over, stay for stories, activities, and prizes. Let’s Celebrate the end of July’s Summer Reading Program together. Wednesday, July 26th 10am – 12pm.

 

Board Meeting: This meeting of the library board is open to the public. Join us at 7:30 PM on Monday, June 24th, if you have any thoughts that you would like to share with the board.
